The upcoming edition of the Women’s T20 spectacle will be preceded by a mini auction as Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals have four slots to fill up each while UP Warriorz have three free slots.

The 2024 auction of the Women’s Premier League is set to take place on Sunday, the 15th of December as some of the biggest names in the women’s sport will go under the hammer.

The upcoming edition of the Women’s T20 spectacle, planned to be held sometime in early 2025, will be preceded with a mini auction as Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals have four slots to fill up each while UP Warriorz have three as the sides look to spruce up their squads ahead of the third edition of the WPL.

RCB:

The holders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, managed to hold on to the core of their title-winning side but also opted. to release star player Nadine de Klerk along with five other Indian players

RCB also managed to rope in Danni Wyatt from the UP Warriorz ahead of the spectacle and will head into into the auction room with Rs 3.25 Crore at their disposal.

RCB Retained players:

Smriti Mandhana (C), Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh, Georgia Wareham, Shreyanka Patil, Sabbineni Meghana, Sophie Devine, Renuka Singh, Sophie Molineux, Ekta Bisht, Kate Cross, Kanika Ahuja, Asha Sobhana, Danni Wyatt (Traded)

RCB Released players: Nadine de Klerk, Disha Kasat, Indrani Roy,  Shubha Satheesh, Shraddha Pokarkar, Simran Bahadur.

MI:

The inaugural edition champions too opted to hold onto their side’s spine, but chose to release pacer Issy Wong, in addition to Indians Priyanka Bala, Humaira Kaazi and Fatima Jaffer.

It would be interesting to see how the MI side look to scale up at the auction as they enter the room with Rs 2.65 Crore in their kitty.

DC:

The Delhi-based side, which reached the final of both the editions of the marquee Women’s league, will enter the auction room with the tiniest purse of all five teams with just Rs 2.5 Crore under their belt.

They decided to let go of Australia player Laura Harris, while also releasing Indins Ashwani Kumari, Poonam Yadav, and Aparna Mondal.

The Capital city side would b looking to break their finals hoodoo and get their hands on the coveted prize for the first time in the upcoming season.

DC Retained players: Meg Lanning (C), Jemimah Rodrigues, Jess Jonassen, Marizanne Kapp, Minnu Mani, Radha Yadav, Shafali Verma, Alice Capsey, Arundhati Reddy, Shikha Pandey, Sneha Deepthi, Taniyaa Bhatia, Titas Sadhu, Annabel Sutherland

DC Released players: Laura Harris, Poonam Yadav, Aparna Mondal, Ashwani Kumari.

UPW:

The UP Warriorz will head to the auction with the second highest purse among all sides with Rs 3.9 Crore. The Lucknow-based side traded Englishwoman Wyatt to RCB while also letting go of compatriot Lauren Bell.

Indians Laxmi Yadav, Parshavi Chopra, S. Yashasri were also released by the UP Warriorz as they look to make their mark on the big stage.

GG:

The Gujarat Giants will enter the auction with the highest purse as they take Rs 4.4 Crores into the sale of players following their release of Kiwi cricketer Lea Tahuhu, in addition to Scotswoman Kathryn Bryce.

They also let go of India all-rounder Sneh Rana, while Trisha Poojitha, Veda Krishnamurthy, and Tarannum Pathan were also released.
