Maddison has scored four goals in his last four league starts for Tottenham, including a brace in last weekend’s win over Southampton, while all six of Bruno Fernandes’ goals this season have come since the sacking of Erik ten Hag, including two in his last two.
Tottenham’s five match winless run came to an end in emphatic fashion last weekend, scoring five first half goals in a 5-0 away win at Southampton which dealt the final blow on Russell Martin’s time as manager of the Saints.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will be looking to build on that performance in a tough match against a revitalised Manchester United side in a bid to reach the semi finals of the Carabao Cup as they seek to end a 17 year wait for a trophy.
Spurs’ second victory in their last nine games saw them climb back into the top half of the Premier League table, where they sit just two points off the top six but also only a point ahead of Manchester Untied in 13th.
Spurs will also be looking to end a four game winless run at home, but will fancy themselves to book their place in the last four having knocked Manchester City out of the Cup in the last round, inflicting their first defeat of their torrid run of form they currently find themselves in.
Manchester United’s dramatic late win in the Manchester derby on Sunday afternoon saw them record back to back victories last week, having also won in the Czech Republic in the Europa League in the week.
Having been 1-0 down heading into the 88th minute, Ruben Amorim’s side managed to turn the game around in the dying moments to snatch an unlikely 2-1 victory, which kept United down in 13th in the Premier League table, despite only being three points off sixth.
The Red Devils had won just one of their nine away matches in all competitions this season prior to their victory over Viktoria Plzen the Europa League last week, and could treble their tally for the season in the space of a week tonight having won twice on the road last week.
Tottenham are unbeaten in their last four matches against Manchester United, winning two of those games, though the Red Devils have lost on only one of their five visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
