‘Wind your neck in’ – Myles Lewis-Skelly and ‘pups’ Arsenal sent warning by Jason Cundy over Erling Haaland treatment

Arsenal have been warned that their s***housery of Erling Haaland could brutally come back to bite them in a stunning rant by Jason Cundy.

The Gunners inflicted a 5-1 thumping on Manchester City last weekend, and they revelled in the victory over the Premier League champions and then some.

Myles Lewis-Skelly was seen mimicking City striker Erling Haaland’s meditation celebration after scoring Arsenal’s third of the game.

And after the game Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Humble’ was played over the Emirates Stadium’s PA system in reference to Haaland telling Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to ‘stay humble’ after the reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium.

Cundy says he likes rivalry, insisting he enjoyed the clashes between Haaland and Gunners defender Gabriel during the match.

Speaking about Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane’s iconic rivalry, Cundy said on The Sports Bar: “That needle, that’s rocket fuel. That was the battle in the middle of the park you wanted to see. Having all of that.

“There’s not enough of that in the game. If I had to say to you now, what’s the biggest needle in the game right now, you ask me, I’d say it’s Gabriel and Haaland. That’s only recent, that’s only this season. There’s no real needle, is there?

“There’s a little bit between two clubs, but that goes historically back. And I love that. A centre half against a centre forward, right? All for that, Gabriel shouting in his face…”

However, Cundy took issue with Lewis-Skelly’s actions, telling the 18-year-old that the celebration is something he could live to regret.

Cundy added: “I mean, you know, picking to choose your battles, but the Lewis-Skelly stuff. Wind your neck in.

“Arsenal fans will love it and I get why they love it. But Haaland, he’s completed football, right? And be careful what you do at that age because I just, I’m not so sure it’s wise for him to be doing that. All right?

“Run off, celebrate your goal, do what you need to do. And you know, he’s a brilliant young player. He’s got to have a stellar career by the looks of it. He looks top drawer.

“Just doing that… I’m not convinced it’s the wisest thing to do because, you know, so long, plenty of years to come.

“You wait. You know, we saw what Roy Keane did to Haaland’s dad. You know, just be careful what battles you pick.”

And Cundy thinks the events of Sunday evening show Arsenal are getting too far above their station.

In a huge rant, Cundy said: “And also, who are Arsenal? And what have they done in the last 20 years? Seriously, how can they be taking that battle there? Quieten yourselves down.

“You’re a good side, really good team. You showed that the weekend. You’re probably going to be second, again.

“When you win something, then you can shout from the houses. Then you can start doing all this housery. Then you go, it’s built on nothing other than, you know, it comes from Mikel Arteta. He’s part of it, he loves to promote and he’s, you know, it’s fine.

“Arsenal fans would love it. And I totally get it. I watched Chelsea under Jose Mourinho, right?

“Jose won things, Jose won Premier League. Back to back Premier Leagues. He was there. You earned the right.

“And right now, Arsenal haven’t earned the right to be doing that sort of housery. It’s fine. Do it, we’ll see where it ends up.

“Come back at the end of the season. If they win the Premier League or Champions League, then we’ll have this conversation.

“But right now, you’re just pups. You’re pups and you’re messing around with the big boys.

“Haaland’s got all the medals, he’s got the badge on the side. Yeah. Bad day in the office.

Simon Jordan and Martin Keown discuss Myles Lewis-Skelly mocking Haaland in Arsenal’s 5-1 win!

“This is the trouble with Arsenal fans. It’s all about the now. It’s all about, the trouble is, when was the last time they had the now?

“Seriously, when was the last time it was the now? When was the last time they went, ‘we’re the big dogs?’

“They ain’t the big dogs… I’ll tell you what they do, they’re very good at winning little battles, but don’t win the war.

“It’s true. It’s exactly who Arsenal are.

“Man City. You’re talking about one of the guys, Haaland’s got 250 career league goals. Just get him sitting there doing that. Wind your neck in.

“Come on. Let’s have it right.”

AFTV’s Robbie Lyle hit back at Cundy for his comments and insist people are forgetting the reason for Arsenal’s reaction.

He told talkSPORT Breakfast: “I loved the reaction. People forget the reasons for these things, for the way Haaland handled Lewis-Skelly in the first game, when he said, who the hell are you?

“The way he took the ball and threw it in the back of Gabriel’s head. And Gabriel said to him, you got to come to our place. I loved it. This is what football is all about.

“We always talk about, oh, why didn’t the players get up for it? Well, they were up for this one. Me and every fan in that ground loved it.

“I don’t understand why people are saying some of these things. They didn’t disrespect Man City out of nothing. They were disrespecting us.

“Remember how Haaland was talking to Mikel Arteta, touching him and telling him to be humble and put… Mikel Arteta didn’t provoke him or say anything to get that response.

“People forget that part. Just because they’re champions, don’t mean they can go bully themselves around without getting a response.

“I loved it from Arsenal. I remember when Jason Cundey said that Mikel Arteta only put on Ethan Nwanieri because it was all about himself. I wonder if he’s still saying that now when you say how good this kid is.”
