Thursday racing tips
- SANDOWN
1.20: Soigneux Bell 7/1 each-way (1.5pts)
1.55: Issam & Mount Tempest Combination Forecast 2.6/1 (1pt)
2.30: Holloway Queen 2/1 (1pt)
4.12: Classic Anthem 3/2 (1pt)
Soigneux Bell
You can make an appealing case for a lot of these but there’s only really potential and only one or two will really turn a profit here.
Raffles Nobu is now just 7/2 on his first run for Seven Barrows having run with credit in France.
Soigneux Bell returns off a near 400 day break but could be very, very well weighted to strike here.
His last run was disappointing having been an 11/4 shot but it’s clear it all came down to a mistake two out where he just lost all ground after.
The winner of that race was Kabral Du Mathan which also suggests there could be much more for his hurdler.
Similarly, his race before was an 11 length victory over Spiced Rum and that form has also been improved.
At 7/1 as an each-way punt he appeals a lot especially over the favourite at 9/4 who could easily win but could still be surprised by this return.
Exacta
Issam made his chase debut at Exeter winning well and only been upped 4lb.
Mount Tempest also won last time out and has much more chase experience upped 5lb for winning over course and distance in December.
This horse plugged on well to win over course and distance last time out despite carrying top-weight.
He’s now up against Issam who’s at the same weight but unexposed still over fences.
A combination exacta pays out at around 2.6/1 which seems a no brainer if it were to be a match up like it looks like it should be.
Holloway Queen
This is a great Grade 2 Mares Novices’ Hurdle renewal with a couple of mares really appealing at the front of the market.
Holloway Queen has now won both of her hurdle starts for Nicky Henderson.
Winning by 15 lengths at Haydock last time out in listed company.
She won cosily in a tough slog where the conditions certainly didn’t help a lot of the field.
Hollygrove Cha Cha was just three lengths off of Jubilee Alpha who won comfortably and is potentially off to Cheltenham Festival next month.
She gets 5lb from Holloway Queen who is rated at the roughly the same mark as Jubilee Alpha, which could be the advantage for a horse that could be even better and has a slightly better price too.
Classic Anthem
Price is shortening and having won over this course before it’s very encouraging.
Only upped 2lb for his second place run at Warwick last time out but really has a strong chance here.
