Justin Kluivert has reassured Fantasy Premier League managers after fears that he could miss Bournemouth’s match this weekend.
The Dutchman has been in red-hot form lately, with five goals in his last five league games, including a hat-trick in the Cherries’ 5-1 thrashing of Newcastle in January.
And with rock-bottom Southampton next up for Andoni Iraola’s side, Kluivert will no doubt have been a popular pick among FPL managers desperate to get points on the board this week.
That was until Thursday, when the 25-year-old revealed that his wife had gone into labour, with the couple preparing to welcome their first child.
In video shared on his wife Shanna’s TikTok page, Kluivert can be seen jokingly moon-walking to Salt-N-Pepa’s ‘Push It’ in the delivery room.
With the short clip posted just two days ahead of Bournemouth’s clash with the Saints, FPL players quickly went into panic-mode.
Instead of congratulatory messages, the Netherlands international’s other half soon found her replies flooded with concerned fans who had named him in their team.
One well-wisher wrote: “Love you Justin but you better play on Saturday congrats tho x.”
Another couldn’t hide their frustration, commenting: “I just put you into my fpl,” alongside a crying emoji.
But this was nothing compared to one fan, who sent a concerned message to both Kluivert and his wife, demanding answers ahead of Friday night deadline for FPL changes.
They asked: “Hello Shana and Justin. Is the baby coming on Saturday?
“I’m thinking on bringing in Justin in FPL but im scared he’s gonna miss the game because he’s there with you? Thanks.”
And to the relief of all concerned fans, Kluivert was quick to put their fears to rest.
The Cherries striker replied: “Don’t worry I will be there,” followed by an emoji of a man nursing a baby.
Kluivert is currently enjoying the best goalscoring season of his career, with his 11 league goals already more than he has netted over the course of an entire campaign.
And if the ex-Ajax man is anything like his dad Patrick, FPL fans will be even more confident that he can add to his tally against Southampton.
One of the best Dutch strikers of all time, Kluivert Sr scored 122 goals in 257 games for Barcelona, including one which came just four days after Justin’s birth, in a 3-2 win in 1999.
And the Bournemouth striker, who has netted two hat-tricks this season, will be hoping the arrival of his daughter helps to continue his fine season in front of goal.
Speaking to the Daily Mail in January, Kluivert admitted he had seen an upturn in form since learning he was to become a father.
He said: “I put my hat-trick balls in my daughter’s room.
“In two or three weeks I will be having a little daughter. She gives me extra motivation. It is super nice, they say the girls are beautiful for their dads, I can imagine it!”
Kluivert continued: “I can picture in my mind being up all night changing nappies! I need some rest on match days though, so maybe my wife will help me… I will obviously do all I can, of course, and be up in the night.
“My game has been improving since my wife has been expecting a baby, so maybe that is the start of something beautiful.
“Maybe my game will get even better when she is here, it will be special to be a father and that is extra motivation.”
