Bayern Munich vs VfL Bochum predictions

Fresh from a comprehensive 3-0 win over Leverkusen in the Champions League on Wednesday, Bayern Munich can take another step towards the Bundesliga title by beating Bochum on Saturday.

The league leaders have won nine of their last ten in the Bundesliga and are on a three-match winning streak in all competitions.

The Champions League win over Leverkusen was a significant result for Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany.

While Kompany has done an excellent job in the Bundesliga, he has continually been questioned in Europe, with his team losing to Aston Villa, Barcelona and Feyenoord in the group stage, and also coming within a whisker of being taken to extra-time by Celtic in the playoffs.

Wednesday’s win over Leverkusen was as comprehensive as it gets. Bayern had 65 percent of the possession and 17 shots to Leverkusen’s three.

The size of the win not only sees Bayern with one foot in the quarter-final, it also means Kompany won’t have to rotate his squad too much for the visit of lowly Bochum.

Munich have an eight-point lead over Leverkusen. With 14 matches remaining, they are on course to win the Bundesliga.

Another three points against Bochum will see them edge closer to regaining the title they surrendered to Leverkusen just under 12 months ago.

Bochum sit 16th in the table on 17 points from 24 matches. An unbeaten three-match run saw Dieter Hecking’s team pick up five points from three matches, lifting them off the foot of the table in the process.

Their unbeaten run came to a shuddering halt on Saturday when they lost 1-0 at home to Hoffenheim. Tom Bischof scored the only goal of the game after 72 minutes, condemning Hecking’s team to their 15th defeat of the season.

Despite their slightly improved form, Bochum is still in big trouble. They currently occupy the relegation playoff place and are four points from safety. Furthermore, the Blues have won only four matches this season, and only one of them was on the road.

It’s very hard to see them taking anything other than a good beating away from the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Bayern Munich vs VfL Bochum betting tips

Bayern Munich are as short as 1/14 to win this match with some bookmakers, even with it dropping in the middle of a two-legged Champions League tie. Our Bayern vs Bochum match tips are below:

Bayern to win from -2 goals on the European handicap

A bet on Bayern to win at odds of between 1/10 and 1/14 is not going to make us rich. The bookmakers are telling us that this isn’t even a contest, so we have to look elsewhere for some value.

Bayern are 4/9 to score over 2.5 goals in the match. That looks very short. But Bayern has scored a minimum of three goals in seven of their previous ten in the Bundesliga.

Bayern is 10/11 to win from a -2 goal start on the handicap. That means they need to win by three clear goals for this bet to win.

So what are the chances of that happening? Well, Bochum have only scored 23 goals this season in the league, only two teams have scored fewer.

This makes a 3-0 or 4-1 home win look all the more likely. The only other alternative would be to back Bayern to win from -1 on the European handicap. That covers results like 2-0 or 3-1. The problem is that the bet only pays 3/10.

With the pressure off, we are going for Bayern to win from -2 goals.

Jamal Musiala to score anytime

Jamal Musiala was handed a gift of a goal by Leverkusen’s Matej Kovar in the Champions League on Wednesday. The 22-year-old was on hand to prod the ball into an empty net after Kovar’s inexplicable error.

The goal was Musiala’s second in his last three games in all competitions, after he also scored his team’s third in the 4-0 win over Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena two weeks ago.

Furthermore, Musiala now has three goals and one assist in his last four home matches.

The match against Bochum is likely to be one-sided with Bayern scoring a few. In his current form at the Allianz, Musiala to score anytime at just under even money looks good value.

Michael Olise to score or assist

Michael Olise’s impressive all round form for Bayern continued on Wednesday when he provided the assist for Harry Kane’s opening headed goal in the 3-0 win over Leverkusen.

The assist was Olise’s second in the Champions League to go with his ten in the Bundesliga.

In all competitions this season, the former Crystal Palace winger has scored 13 goals and provided 13 assists in 37 matches for Bayern.

If Komany’s team runs riot against Bochum, it looks inevitable Olise will play a role in at least one of the goals.
