Brendan Rodgers’ side have won four of their last five matches ahead of their trip to Germany, scoring 18 goals in the process and will need to overturn their 2-1 deficit from the first leg if they’re to reach the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time in 12 years.

The Glasgow side’s mammoth lead at the top of the league table, making them seemingly all but guaranteed to win a fourth league title in a row and a 12th in 13 years, leaves them available to put all their eggs in their Champions League basket tonight.

Bayern Munich have reached the last 16 of the Champions League in each of the last 16 seasons, and took one large step to making the same stage last week with their 2-1 win in Glasgow, courtesy of goals from former Premier League duo Michael Olise and Harry Kane.

Vincent Kompany’s side maintained their seven-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga table on Saturday evening after drawing 0-0 with defending champions Bayer Leverkusen, a result which saw the end of their five match winning streak.

The six-time champions of Europe have lost only once at home in all competitions since March last year, and head into tonight’s Champions League game having won their last seven home games, scoring an average of almost four goals per game in that run.

Celtic will have to do something they’ve never done before and beat Bayern Munich to have any chance of avoiding elimination from European competitions this season, the Bhoys having lost four of their five meetings against the Bavarian side, including each of their last three.
