‘He’s not learnt’ – Ben Whittaker mocks Liam Cameron’s nose as pair get personal in clash during tense talkSPORT face-off

Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron argued during a tense and eventful face-off in the talkSPORT studio.

Whittaker and Cameron met in a bout which ended in hugely controversial fashion last October, with the former forced to withdraw injured after the pair flew out of the ring and over the ropes.

The Briton was accused of ‘quitting’ the fight having left the event in a wheelchair, and boxing fans demanded the pair meet again to settle the score.

A sequel has now been made official for Easter Sunday, April 20, in Birmingham with superstar Whittaker looking to get his professional career back on track and end the dispute.

The pair came into the talkSPORT studio on Thursday to preview their fight with tensions at a maximum after the crazy ending to their maiden meeting.

Things even became personal as an argue erupted on air in a rare moment of animosity between the pair.

They discussed a reported airport meeting before their first meeting, where Cameron claimed Whittaker had ignored him despite being his fight opponent.

talkSPORT presenter Andy Goldstein brought up the meeting to which Cameron explained: “I went to shake his hand.

“I said alright and he just blanked me. So I thought it’s on now. He looked me straight in the eyes.”

Whittaker took things to a personal level, adding: “I didn’t see him. I must have missed that nose.”

Cameron was clearly annoyed, and responded: “He hasn’t learned has he?”

Whittaker clearly got one back for a previous dig, responding: “Why can’t you take a little joke?

“You were dissing my hair and all them other things. It is only a laugh.”

Cameron insisted Whittaker had ‘nice hair’ as tensions de-escalated, but the latter insisted his rival’s time in the spotlight was over.

Despite the brief tensions, ‘Benzo’ insisted there was no animosity and he ultimately had respect for his opponent.

It is clear they are already prepared to become acquaintances after the fight, planning to met up after the final bell of their bumper clash in April.

But things became bizarre at the end of their talkSPORT face-off as they ended their conversation with final predictions.

Cameron quickly shouted ‘smash’ when asked for his plan in the fight.

And Whittaker responded: “Turn up. Whoa that sounded a bit crazy.

“I don’t want to talk no more, I’m done with this chat. He’s moving a bit crazy.”

The pair were watched over by security and didn’t do a final face-off.

But they had been forced to be separated by officials earlier in the day after refusing to break their gaze.

It is a hugely important contest for the young superstar Whittaker, who had a huge reputation so early on his career, after just nine fights.

Now he plans to restore his pride against Cameron, the unlikely challenger who believed he was winning the fight before their one-of-a-kind ring incident.

During the interview, Whittaker explained why he didn’t disclose the exact injuries that forced him to pull out of their first clash midway through.

He added: “Listen, that’s just the way I am. I could have posted the X-ray but I didn’t.

“It just isn’t the person I am. At the end of the day nobody wants to hear it.

“People want to just see us run it back in a rematch, fair enough it happened it was very bizarre.

“The injury is very good now, I am in a great way and I’m now very happy to be fair.”
