Bristol City vs Swansea predictions
Due to the fourth round of the FA Cup, only a handful of Championship matches will be taking place this weekend.
One of the fixtures is on Sunday, with Bristol City hosting Swansea City at Ashton Gate.
Somewhat remarkably, a win for Bristol could see them finish the weekend in fifth place, depending on results elsewhere.
The fact that the Robins are in the mix for a playoff place is a testament to the great job being done at Ashton Gate by manager Liam Manning.
City are currently on a three-match winning streak, and they have also only lost one of their last eight, winning four and drawing three.
Bristol last tasted defeat against in-form Coventry City on Matchday 27.
They bounced back from that loss by holding mid-table Sheffield Wednesday to a 2-2 draw at Hillsborough. Ross McCrorie rescued a point with an equaliser after 86 minutes.
A 2-1 home win over top-six Blackburn followed, and then last Saturday, Manning’s team secured another point on the road, this time away at in-form Oxford United.
Mark Sykes scored Bristol’s goal on 65 minutes, cancelling out Gary Leigh’s opener for the home team. But that doesn’t tell half the story.
The Robins had Joe Williams sent off after 31 minutes, and Ross McCrorie also saw red after 86 minutes, leaving Manning’s team to hold on with just nine men.
Gaining a draw from that position was a great result and shows the Bristol players really are fighting for every point they can get.
Bristol’s opponents on Sunday, Swansea City, are having a torrid time.
Luke Williams’ team started the match week in 17th position with 34 points from 30 matches.
The Swans are on a losing streak of four, and have lost five of their last six in the Championship.
Furthermore, Swansea had a January transfer window to forget.
Matt Grimes departed the club for pastures new at Coventry City. The loss of the former club captain was a huge blow for the Swans, especially coming at a time when the team was already struggling on the pitch.
Furthermore, Luke Williams admitted the club had been duped and missed out on a few players they had hoped to sign in the window.
Adding further salt into the wounds, the Swans last match was a 2-0 home defeat to Coventry City, Grimes’ new club.
The only real positive that Williams could take out of the match was that it could have been a lot worse had the Sky Blues taken more of their many chances.

But things have turned for both clubs. The Robins have only lost one in their last eight, the Swans haven’t won in their last six – we need to go back to December 29th for their last three points.
The form book only points to a win for the home team.
⚽ Back Bristol City to win at 17/20 with bet365 ⚽
BTTS
Bristol City may be in a good run of form, but they have only kept one clean sheet in their last six in the Championship.
Despite their struggles, Swansea has found the net in 12 of their last 15.
The Swans did only manage one shot on target against Coventry City last week. But the Welsh team had 57% of the possession, and this was against a Coventry team that was in good form and on a winning streak of three.
If Luke Williams’ team continues to dominate the possession, it’s only a matter of time before their luck turns.
That might not be enough to win at Ashton Gate. But against a Bristol team who are far from watertight at the back, there is every chance the Swans will get on the scoresheet.

Scott Twine to score or assist
Scott Twine has played a large part in Bristol City’s improved form this season.
The attacking midfielder has been a constant goal threat, scoring and creating goals from either flank or just behind the main striker.
Twine has scored five and provided three assists in 21 Championship matches this season.
One of those goals and two of his assists have come in his last six matches, showing he is currently in good form.
Twine also provided Bristol’s assist when the two teams drew 1-1 on Matchday 7. Similar to how Coventry have haunted the Swans lately, back Twine to do the same.
