Crystal Palace vs Southampton prediction

Southampton have lost as many as 14 of their opening 18 games in the Premier League, picking up just six points and are the clear favourites to go down this season with a mammoth task ahead of them.

Crystal Palace were facing a relegation battle deep in the mix just a couple of weeks ago, but have since turned things around with a string of decent results and points.

They’ve picked up eight points in their last five games alone which accounts for nearly half of their tally so far this season.

As a result of these performances, they’ve now taken themselves three points clear of Leicester who occupy the third and final relegation spot.

But there’s still a lot more to do to stay out of the fight going forward as it’s still that close.

They have a huge opportunity against Southampton who have only picked up one point in their last five.

Crystal Palace vs Southampton betting tips

Palace may not have sorted their defence out completely but they have been getting more goals.

With score draws against Aston Villa, Newcastle, Man City amongst wins over Ipswich and Brighton, they look to have settled into the season better with a bit more hope going forward.

They held out to a 0-0 draw on Boxing Day away at Bournemouth which is a solid result considering, and they can go into this clash high on confidence.

Palace were hit by a 5-1 loss last week against Arsenal and clearly set out on Thursday afternoon to sure up their defence.

That’s not good news for the Saints either as they have also been struggling to score, and it could well be another clean sheet on the cards for Palace.

Ismaila Sarr has scored three in his last three appearances, which bodes well as they desperately needed players to start stepping up and scoring.

Eberechi Eze has only scored once and assisted twice so far with a lack of options up top for most of the season but could be amongst the goals again as they fine tune their squad.

Jean-Philippe Mateta scored as many as 16 goals last season but despite starting in almost every match this year has only netted four, going goalless in his last four.

But he’s always capable of scoring – and could get plenty of chances against the Saints.
