‘This is my time’ – Daniel Dubois calls out winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury for blockbuster undisputed fight

Daniel Dubois has called out the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury live on talkSPORT.

Usyk and Fury are set to square off on Saturday night for the WBA, WBC and IBF heavyweight titles in a rematch of their barnburner in May.

Dubois put out a public challenge on talkSPORT

The Ukrainian handed Fury the first defeat of his professional career in their inaugural encounter via split decision to be crowned the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.

However, he was only able to hold on to all the belts for a couple of weeks before he was forced to relinquish the IBF belt.

The major sanctioning body ordered Usyk to defend his undisputed crown against mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois but he was unable to return the call due to his contracted rematch with Fury.

As a result, Dubois was elevated from interim to full IBF world champion and defended his red and gold strap in September by knocking out Anthony Joshua in front of a capacity crowd at Wembley Stadium.

Boxing fans were frustrated by the belts being fragmented so quickly but ‘Triple D’ has now opened the door to a unification clash between him and whoever emerges from the three-belt shootout this weekend.

“I’m out here in Saudi and I want the winner on Saturday,” he told talkSPORT’s White and Jordan show on Thursday afternoon.

“I want the winner, I want to fight for the undisputed.

“That is what the aim is now, that is the goal. 100 per cent [I would beat them].

“This is my time now, I have been through the ups and downs but I’m a new man.

“I am a man of the future and I’m ready to fight for the undisputed and win and go down in boxing history.”

Dubois was branded a ‘quitter’ by several members of the boxing fraternity after seeing out a count on one knee against Usyk when they squared off in August last year.

However, Dubois looked reborn in a trio of gutsy wins against Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Joshua, which have gone a long way in shifting the public’s perception.

Asked if he is a different guy from the guy who lost to Usyk, Dubois replied: “Much different, I’m leagues and leagues above that guy.

“I have evolved and I have learnt from those mistakes.

“My team have got it right and I’m firing on all cylinders now so let’s go!”

Dubois was then showered with praise from former featherweight world champion Barry McGuigan, who joined Simon Jordan and Jim White in the talkSPORT studios.

“I genuinely think that Daniel is the hardest puncher in the division at the moment, he is ridiculously dangerous.

“He has improved since the Usyk fight, there is no doubt about it.

“And the body shot was really good against Usyk the last time.

“If he can target the body he has got a chance with anybody. He is so powerful, he has a chance with anybody.”

Of course, if Dubois is going to face the winner of Fury vs Usyk he will have to get through Joseph Parker first.

The Kiwi takes on Dubois on February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on a stacked card headlined by Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol’s much-anticipated rematch.
