Caroline Dubois vs Bo Mi Re Shin: Odds, betting tips, undercard, and more

The spotlight focuses on high-class women’s boxing this weekend, with Boxxer promoting an intriguing card from the Royal Albert Hall in Kensington.

Caroline Dubois – sister of world heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois – defends her WBC strap against fellow lightweight Bo Mi Re Shin. The London champion enjoys the support of a huge crowd inside the famous venue, but will she deliver a win to her adoring public?

The chief support on fight night pairs Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price at welterweight with three versions of the title up for grabs. Chloe Watson returns to action when fighting Jasmina Zapotoczna for the European title at flyweight, and there’s also a professional debut for 2024 Olympic Games bronze medallist Cindy Ngamba.

The leading boxing betting bookmakers celebrate another fantastic evening of professional boxing by offering a long list of betting markets with eye-catching odds attached. You can wager on the main event or make predictions on the undercard. Which bets are best for Friday?

Former professional boxer and respected betting writer Frankie Monkhouse offers TalkSPORT readers his big-fight preview and predictions, including a bet at great odds. After tipping wins for Derek Chisora, Arnold Barboza, and Dmitrii Bivol, our expert targets another win and profit.

Dubois vs Shin odds

All the pressure is on Caroline Dubois on fight night. She was painfully unlucky not to add another win to her record in Sheffield earlier this year. Dubois sent Camara to the canvas at the Park Community Arena in the first round, and it seemed her onslaught would continue, ending in a stoppage win. But it didn’t happen. In the excitement of battle, Dubois and Camara clashed heads, resulting in referee Kieran McCann ending things in round three. A bump in the road, but how will Sweet Caroline respond?

Dubois boasts a professional boxing record of 10 wins against that one draw with five victories scored inside the distance. She’s the WBC champion, ranked number one in the world, and prepares to fight the number two ranked challenger. It’s an exciting time for Dubois, and she can become one of the top names in female boxing with the right result.

Armchair fans and boxing bettors have a choice: do they follow the bookmakers and make do with the short odds, or take a chance on the underdog and back Shin to win at a hefty price? Here’s what online bookmaker Betfred has for Friday’s fight night in London.

  • Caroline Dubois to win at 1/33 with Betfred
  • Draw at 16/1 with Betfred
  • Bo Mi Re Shin to win at 10/1 with Betfred

Dubois vs Shin outcome odds

While most boxing fans agree Caroline Dubois is the most likely winner this weekend, her odds are short and make backing the Londoner difficult. Those looking to support Dubois and share in the celebrations with a profit stray into the specials on the hunt for an attractive price. There’s plenty to choose from, including total rounds, the fight to end inside 60 seconds, winning rounds, and more.

Regular readers of my boxing previews and predictions know I’m a big fan of the method of victory market. With this bet, you must predict both the winning fighter and how they’ll achieve the result: on points or by knockout. Landing this bet is more challenging, but the odds are higher than you’ll find in the method of victory. Studying the stats often leads to a profit. Is one fighter on a run of knockouts? Perhaps the form suggests a long night. If you fancy a bet on the method of victory. You’ll find the odds below.

  • Dubois win on points at 2/5 with bet365
  • Dubois by KO/TKO at 15/8 with bet365
  • Shin win on points at 22/1 with bet365
  • Shin by KO/TKO at 40/1 with bet365

A big year awaits

It’s been a case of so far, so good for Caroline Dubois in her professional boxing career. She matched the efforts of her famous fighting brother when she became champion of the world. The 24-year-old won the WBC interim title and defended her IBO strap with a ten-round points win over Maira Moneo at the Oakwell Football Ground in Barnsley. Another victory would set up a big win for Dubois, but she can’t afford to look beyond Friday’s challenge.

Despite boasting a 50% knockout average, Dubois hasn’t stopped an opponent in six fights, a run stretching back to February 2023 and the third-round KO/TKO of Feriche Mashaury at Wembley Arena. Caroline sent her opponent to the deck in round two before keeping the pressure on and finishing things before the end of the third. In her short career, the champion has shown she has the power to hurt opponents and the skills to impress the judges. Which will she need on fight night?

Since her last KO/TKO, Dubois has out-pointed Yanina del Carmen Lescano, Magali Rodriguez, Miranda Reyes, Maira Moneo, and Jessica Camara. She’s also fit and raring to go, returning to the ring just weeks after that disappointing end to the fight with Camara.

  • Weight: Lightweight
  • Record: 10-0-1

South Korean here to spoil the party

Bo Mi Re Shin has arrived for this fight almost unnoticed. The South Korean fighter is the underdog with pundits, fighters, and odds-makers. The leading sportsbooks believe Shin is merely here to make up the numbers and will prove little more than a footnote on her opponent’s record. There’s little the fighter from Seoul can do to change their minds now, but when the fight starts, she can show why she’s the number two ranked fighter in the division.

Shin jets to the UK with a professional boxing record showing 18 wins against two defeats and three draws. She has won ten times inside the distance, and both her losses were on the scorecards. Making her debut back in 2016, Shin drew half of her first six bouts as a prizefighter before finally putting together a run of wins. She’s unbeaten in her last three bouts, with two stoppage wins included in that purple patch.

Victory on Saturday in London would see Shin return to South Korea with the belt. She’ll then have all the top fighters and managers on the phone trying to tempt her into a big fight before the summer. She’ll also have options to bring huge shows to South Korea. But to achieve that, she must defeat a talented opponent in a hurry.

Stats:

  • Age: 30 years old
  • Height: 5’ 6”
  • Weight: Lightweight
  • Record: 18-2-3

🥊 Dubois vs Shin betting tips

There are lots of Dubois vs Shin markets to consider. But which is the best ahead of Friday’s showdown live on Sky Sports? I’ve trawled through the form, betting, and the latest odds before returning with my three best bets on Dubois vs Shin.

Fight not to go the distance

Friday involves the two best fighters in the division, and I’m confident it will live up to expectations. When two high-class operators share a ring, it’s often so evenly matched that the fight goes to points, forcing the judges to pick a winner. But I expect the scorers sat at ringside to enjoy an evening off, with Dubois and Shin failing to last the distance.

When following this prediction, it doesn’t matter who wins the fight, as long as the bout doesn’t last ten rounds and go to a decision, your pick is a winner and a profit will be added to your player account balance. Both fighters have power, and anything can happen at this level. Bet on the fight not to go the distance.

➡️ Bet on fight not to go the distance at 7/4 with bet365

Dubois by KO/TKO

Caroline Dubois doesn’t possess the same knockout power as her champion brother, but there’s no denying her strength. I’m confident Dubois will score her first knockout win since February 2023. She’ll take her time, edge her way into the rounds, before picking up her distance and over-running her opponent with work-rate.

When following the Dubois KO/TKO pick, it’s not important when she scores the stoppage. Dubois could win with the first punch of the opening round or the last punch of the final round. If Shin is counted out for ten or stopped by the referee, your bet wins.

➡️ Bet on Dubois by KO/TKO at 15/8 with bet365

Dubois in rounds 6-10

My final pick of three in Kensington on Friday is Dubois to win in rounds 6-10. We’re taking a bigger risk here, but the odds are worth winning. With the above bet, you want Caroline to win by KO/TKO between rounds six and ten.

Dubois knows she has the power to end things in the first few rounds, but she’s also aware her opponent is a skilled operator. Fail to take her seriously, Dubois could lose her title and her number one ranking. Bet on a late stoppage.
