Canada vs. Finland predictions
The five-time Art Ross trophy winner has yet to take over a game in his two outings in a Canadian sweater. Connor McDavid did score the opening goal against USA on Saturday as he finished with three shots in just under 23 minutes of ice time.
The current NHL points leader this season, Nate McKinnon had a quiet evening on Saturday. McKinnon saw him separated from Crosby as Canada was desperate for offence in the third period juggling the lines. Canada can’t afford to have the 29-year-old undergo another uninfluential display.
It was clear on Saturday Canada desperately missed their stud on the backend, Cale Makar. The team is hopeful that the star defenceman will return to the lineup as he missed Saturday’s game with the flu.
If Makar can return it will be a huge boost to a team that looks lost on ideas creating high danger chances.
Finland’s OT hero on Saturday Mikael Granlund was deserving of the game’s first star. The 32-year-old logged just under 18 minutes of action against Sweden.
Between his stints with the San Jose Sharks and Dallas Stars this year, Granlund has acquired 34 points in 56 appearances.
Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine was a jewel in the attack for his home nation versus the Swedes. The winger finished the game collecting two helpers in just over 15 minutes of taxing effort.
The former second-overall pick in the NHL draft has 12 goals in 28 starts with his club team in 2024/25.
Canada vs. Finland betting tip
Approaching this contest, it’s essentially an elimination game for both countries with the stakes set at an all-time high.
All the pressure will be on the co-host nation, Canada as they are pegged as the firm favourites to clinch a position in Thursday’s tournament final.
So far, out of four round-robin games played, three of them resulted in going over the number. Despite the high-scoring combats we have witnessed with these stacked squads, we feel this skirmish will be lower-scoring on Monday afternoon.
Both sides will want to avoid making any mistakes and chances that could result with the puck in the back of their net, especially in this win-or-go-home meeting.
With the skill on both ends of the rink, getting shots on target had proved to be a difficult task as through four games, USA was the only team to amass over 30 shots in group stage play.
We sense getting pucks on net will be an obstacle adding to the equation a Game 7 feel to this battle, this should help our wager despite the shaky goaltending from both sets of countries.
