Liverpool have work to do on Thursday night if they want to reach the final of this year’s Carabao Cup after losing the first leg of their semi final 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Arne Slot’s side head into the second leg having won four of their last five matches in all competitions, their 2-0 win at high-flying Bournemouth on the weekend keeping them six points clear at the top of the Premier League table, with a game in hand.
Liverpool are the defending Carabao Cup champions after beating Chelsea in extra time in last season’s final, and this year are looking to lift the trophy for a third time in four years, and last year became the first team to lift it 10 times.

Tottenham have had a torrid season in the Premier League of late but have had enjoyment in the cup competitions, giving themselves a fantastic chance of reaching this year’s Carabao Cup final with their first leg victory over the runaway Premier League leaders in the semi.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have strung together back to back wins following their 2-0 win over Brentford in Sunday’s London derby, which lifted his side up to 14th in the Premier League table.
The north London side are still in the FA Cup and Europa League though as their bid for a first trophy in 17 years goes on, though they could make huge strides towards some silverware if they manage to hold onto their first leg advantage at Anfield on Thursday night.
Spurs have won two of their last 12 Premier League games while Liverpool have lost only one in the league all season, coming way back in September, though their head-to-head over the last four games is level at two wins apiece.
However, the north London side have won only once at Anfield since 1998, and are without a win in their last 14 visits, losing 10 of their last 13.
