My weekend football acca will get you £170 from a £10 bet

English football is back after the March international break, with the FA Cup quarter-finals scheduled for this weekend.

We have previewed all four ties taking place on Saturday and Sunday, as well as a huge game in the Championship.

Bournemouth vs Manchester City: Man City to qualify (8/13)

This has mostly been a season to forget for Manchester City, but they can still salvage something from it.

If Pep Guardiola’s side were to qualify for the Champions League and win the FA Cup, the 2024/25 campaign could hardly be termed a disaster.

There is still a long way to go on both fronts, though, and City face a stern examination of their credentials this weekend.

Bournemouth have been one of the surprise packages of the Premier League season and they have already beaten City once at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries have gone off the boil of late, however. They lost 2-1 to Brentford in their most recent top-flight outing and have now won just one of their last six games in all competitions.

City are far from their best but they still have the quality to hurt opponents on their day, with Omar Marmoush and Erling Haaland beginning to strike up a partnership.

Fulham vs Crystal Palace: Under 2.5 goals (4/5)

Crystal Palace won 2-0 at Craven Cottage in the Premier League last month and they will be aiming to emerge victorious at the same venue this weekend.

Fulham were uncharacteristically blunt in that meeting a few weeks back and Marco Silva will want to see more from his attacking players here.

Palace are one of the most solid teams in the top tier, however, so Fulham will find it tough to break their fellow Londoners down.

Only Arsenal and Liverpool have conceded fewer goals than Oliver Glasner’s side in 2024/25, while Palace have the Premier League’s best defensive record away from home.

That bodes well for this trip across the capital. But with Jean-Philippe Mateta a fitness question mark, this looks set to be a low-scoring affair.

Preston North End vs Aston Villa: Aston Villa to win (9/20)

Preston North End are the only FA Cup quarter-finalists from outside the Premier League. Their supporters are daring to dream of a first appearance in the last four since 1938.

But Preston will be up against it this weekend. Aston Villa are the second-favourites to lift the trophy with the bookies. They are not just FA Cup quarter-finalists but Champions League quarter-finalists too.

Villa have at times struggled to balance their European commitments with domestic assignments this season, but they head into this fixture on the back of the international break.

It is hard to see how Preston will be able to prevent Villa going through, even though Paul Heckingbottom’s men do have home advantage on their side.

Villa should get the job done within 90 minutes at Deepdale.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Nottingham Forest: Both teams to score (3/4)

Brighton and Nottingham Forest are both flying high in the Premier League, but their pushes for Europe are on hold this weekend.

Of course, the FA Cup provides another pathway into continental competition but it is the chance to win a trophy that really appeals to this duo.

Brighton can be a streaky side at times and they are currently going through a strong patch, having gone seven matches without defeat.

Their last defeat came at the hands of Nottingham Forest, who administered a 7-0 thrashing of Albion at the City Ground.

It is difficult to see how Forest will be able to keep Brighton out this time. After all, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have conceded 15 goals in their last five away games.

At the same time, Forest have the attacking potency to make the net bulge in this one.

Go for both teams to score at 3/4 with bet365

Sheffield United vs Coventry City: Over 2.5 goals (11/10)

We have a cracking Championship match to look forward to on Friday night as Sheffield United play host to Coventry City.

The Blades sit second in the standings with a two-point lead over Burnley in second, while Coventry have a two-point buffer above seventh spot as they seek a play-off place.

Frank Lampard has turned the Sky Blues’ season around. Many Coventry fans were upset when Mark Robins was sacked, but the hiring of Lampard has proved to be a masterstroke.

Only the top three have collected more points than Coventry since they brought in the former England international in November.

Lampard’s team are the second-highest scorers in the Championship in that time and goals are likely to be on the cards when they visit Bramall Lane.
