Porto vs Roma predictions
Porto is unbeaten against Roma in four meetings, winning three and drawing one. The matches were in the Champions League knockout stages in 2016 and 2019.
The Portuguese will hope this bodes well when they face Roma again on Thursday.
Martin Anselmi’s team has struggled in recent weeks. Since the turn of the year, Porto has won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions.
The win was against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Matchday 8 of the Europa League group stage. The 1-0 victory sealed their place in the top 24 and a place in the playoffs.
In their domestic Primeira Liga, Anselmi’s team have gone five matches without a win.
Their last victory came against Boavista on Matchday 16 in late December. Following the 4-0 win, Porto suffered back-to-back defeats against Nacional and Gil Vicente.
The Dragons have since drawn their last three. A 94th-minute equaliser from Danny Namaso clinched a home draw against Sporting on Friday in their most recent outing.
Roma have also had their troubles this season. They are onto their third manager already, with Claudio Ranieri the latest to have a go at steadying the ship.
Things have improved under the legendary Italian.
Roma had five points from their first four Europa League matches pre-Ranieri. After the former Chelsea and Leicester City boss returned, I Giallorossi picked up seven points from their final four matches.
Things weren’t perfect, and the run included a disappointing 1-0 defeat to AZ Alkmaar on Matchday 7.
But needing a Matchday 8 win to progress, Roma saved the best till last, winning 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico against high-flying Eintracht Frankfurt of the Bundesliga.
Roma are eight unbeaten in Serie A, winning five and drawing three. In their most recent outing, they defeated Venezia 1-0 away from home on Sunday. The win was their second in succession on the road in the league, having won none of their first ten.
Porto vs Roma betting tips
The Dragons seem to have run into a period of bad form at the wrong time for this match. On the flip side, things have turned full circle for the visitors, who are now on a good run of form both at home and on the road. Our Porto vs Roma betting tips are below:
Roma to win or draw
Since the turn of the year, Porto have just one win in eight matches. They have drawn three and lost four.
Porto are unbeaten in their last four, so that’s a slight improvement. But they aren’t winning, and that’s where their big problem lies.
Over the same period of time, Roma has won five of nine in all competitions, drawing two and losing two.

Their only defeats have come against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League and AC Milan in the Coppa Italia – and Milan is in good form at the moment.
Roma have also won five of their last eight in Serie A, drawing the other three.

Both teams to score
Porto has conceded a goal in all of their last eight matches. They haven’t kept a clean sheet since the 28th December 2024.
The Dragons have scored in their last four matches, with both teams scoring in three of them.
Roma has kept three clean sheets in their last ten. They have also scored in 11 of their last 12, with both teams scoring in seven of the 12 matches.
Both sides are struggling to keep clean sheets. Attack could be the best form of defense at the Estadio do Dragao on Thursday.
⚽ Back both teams to score at 3/4 with Copybet ⚽
Angeliño to score or assist
Angeliño has scored one and assisted two in Serie A this season. He has also scored one and assisted two in the Europa League.
His statistics don’t leap off the page at you.
But a closer look shows the former Manchester City wing back has two goals and one assist in his last four matches in all competitions.
Angeliño started his run with the opening goal in the 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League. He then scored Roma’s goal in their 1-1 draw against top of the table Napoli in Serie A.
He didn’t contribute in Roma’s 3-1 defeat to AC Milan in the Coppa Italia. But he got the assist for winning the penalty that Paulo Dybala slotted home to give his team the win over Venezia on Sunday.
Angeliño is in good form and is revelling in his advanced role under Ranieri.
