14th meets 15th in the Championship in tonight’s rearranged match but with the winner climbing to within four points of the top six, both sides will see the match as a huge opportunity for a late promotion push with just a third of the season remaining.

Preston head into their midweek match with just one defeat in their last nine matches following their goalless draw against automatic promotion chasing Burnley on Saturday.

Paul Heckinbottom’s side are unbeaten at Deepdale in all competitions since the opening weekend of November, leaving them 11 games without defeat on their home patch heading into tonight’s bout, which includes three wins in their last four

The Lilywhites’ point on the weekend leaves them three points off the top half, and start the night a place behind their opponents with only goal difference separating the two teams.

Millwall make the trip to Lancashire with only one defeat in their last seven in all competitions, though that loss did come in the form of a 5-1 thrashing against a bottom of the table Plymouth side, though recovered well with a draw against a sixth placed West Brom on the weekend.

Alex Neil’s side have lost one of their last six matches away from home, winning three of their last four in all competitions, including ending Leeds’ five month long unbeaten home record in the FA Cup a fortnight ago.

The east London side are unbeaten in their last 11 matches against Preston, and have won on three of their last five trips to Deepdale without defeat.

I expect not much will separate the sides as both go to battle with strong unbeaten runs both desperate to put their name in the fight for the play off places. Two of the last three meetings have ended in 1-1 draws and it wouldn’t be surprising if another one was played out tonight.
