Markram was then joined by Kyle Verreynne, and they both will look to extend South Africa’s dominance in the next session. Pakistan, on the other hand, needs quick wickets to claw their way back into the game. The post-Lunch session will be crucial for both teams. Pakistan’s morning didn’t go as planned. The bowlers toiled hard because they lacked consistency. Captain Shan Masood’s decision to delay bringing in Khurram Shahzad, who had picked up two wickets yesterday, proved questionable as the attack seemed to miss the spark he brought on Day 1. However, it may have been because he is carrying a minor niggle. Aamer Jamal and Naseem Shah picked up a wicket each in this session, but even they didn’t pose consistent threats.
Aiden Markram played a composed and elegant innings, bringing up his fifty and positioning himself for a well-deserved hundred. His solid technique and shot selection have kept Pakistan’s bowlers at bay. Temba Bavuma, meanwhile, looked comfortable at the crease, scoring 31 runs before falling to Aamer Jamal while trying to defend and that ended the partnership of 70 runs between both batters.
SESSION SUMMARY – 98 runs, 2 wickets, 24 overs! South Africa dominated the morning session, heading into Lunch at a commanding 180/5, putting themselves in a strong position in the match. They added 88 runs this morning at the cost of just two wickets, narrowing Pakistan’s first-innings lead to just 31 runs. Starting the day at 82/3, the hosts capitalized on the loose bowling from Pakistan to strengthen their grip on the game.
