Wednesday racing tips

  • HEREFORD
    1.05: I’ve Madeupmymind 2/1 (1pt)
    2.35: Torneo 5/2 (1pt)
  • HEXHAM
    12.50: Fromheretoeternity 5/6 (2pts)

I’ve Madeupmymind

Pigeon House is the top-weight given his great form over hurdles already as, despite being just four-years-old already has 15 hurdle races under his belt.

In that time he’s gone well in some tough novice hurdles including going close up in sixth at Galway in a valuable contest in August before winning three weeks later at Ballinrobe ahead of Mordor.

He was pulled up in listed company at Listowel but was prominent until he weakened out of contention.

He’s carrying a huge 19lb more than filly I’ve Madeupmymind who is making her hurdle debut.

As such, she’s favourite for jockey Ben Jones and trainer Ben Pauling, having some decent form in bumpers to suggest she can make the most of this low weight.

She placed behind Honky Tonk Highway in a listed bumper at Sandown in March (that form’s been boosted since) and then went fifth of 18 not far behind Anno Power at Cheltenham in April.

Looks very interesting here on her second run of the season but first time over hurdles, ought to be well regarded to already be a 2/1 shot.

Torneo

Similarly, Torneo gets a huge amount of weight from his rivals in this Class 3 Limited Handicap Chase over 2m.

Gavin Sheehan gets the mount and he’s been in great form to help boost this horse’s chances.

This gelding is also four-years-old and with a rating of 110 is close up to his rivals today but as they’re seven and eight, have to give between 10lb and 19lb, which makes it a mammoth task for the top-rated Tapley.

That gelding is seven, rated 13lb higher but has to give away extra to the youngster and has only just started chasing.

He placed sixth to Kalif Du Berlais which is encouraging going forward but perhaps one for a closer contest next time out.

Fromheretoeternity

Tipped this horse up at 10/11 in November before he was hammered into 8/13 in a four-runner mares’ handicap hurdle.

But she failed to fire and get on terms with Starlyte and Kay Tara Tara, who just ran that bit more economically.

It was the same story next time out too losing at 8/13 mostly due to hanging left, even carried left on the run-in which didn’t help matters only losing by three parts of a length.

She should continue to make progress though as her two wins so far this term have been impressive and 2m seems to be ideal for her.

This mare is certainly better than her current mark but she just has to jump better and run economically to help defy her penalty.
