Phillippe Coutinho is one of the names that spring to mind when discussing brilliant attackers who had trouble finding their form. He made a permanent transfer from Barcelona to Aston Villa for £17 million at the start of the 2022–23 season, although his attack remained shaky the entire time.
Although his inconsistent play might be due to his fitness issues, he was offensively ineffective as he only scored once in the 22 games he played in. His recent bad form was also a factor in his expulsion from Aston Villa’s starting lineup for the just-finished 2022–23 Premier League season.
